Low carbon footprint plastics for the cosmetics and packaging sector

The AMP POLYMIX group supports the cosmetics industry in its evolution towards a new, more sustainable development model, thanks to the widest range of eco-responsible materials in France, from the monitoring of materials to their selection and approval. The selection of raw materials is one of the levers of action in the eco-design and carbon footprint reduction process.

Biobased materials

SULAPAC materials are biocomposites made from plant-based materials and naturally occurring clay minerals. Up to 100% biobased, these materials have a low carbon footprint and their degradation in the environment does not generate residual microplastics.

With a smooth, matt or glossy finish, SULAPAC can be tinted in various colours and the 8 formulations available offer multiple possibilities in terms of visual rendering and properties (barrier grade, chemical resistance, wood or ceramic appearance).

ARKEMA’s polyamides 11 (RILSANPEBAX) are technical thermoplastics derived from castor oil. Their excellent chemical resistance, among other things, are obvious advantages for cosmetic applications.

Recycled materials (mechanical and chemical)

The AMP POLYMIX group is closely following the developments concerning the recycling of PCR (post-consumer) or PIR (post-industrial) plastic waste with the aim of offering its customers in the cosmetics sector recycled plastic materials of increasingly high quality (colour, transparency, food contact, etc.):

  • Transparent materials such as PET, MABS and PMMA
  • Opaque materials such as ABS, PBT, PP and PE

ISCC PLUS certified materials

Some of these raw materials (ABS, PBT, PP, PE, PMMA) are also eligible for ISCC PLUS certification, which allows for the traceability of the necessary raw resources from the production of the polymers to the finished product. The AMP-POLYMIX Group is certified and is available to explain the major issues and principles to customers.
